Oral history interview with Reyna Anches, Nov. 9, 1987.

Anches discusses her activities in Hadassah and the Women's Division of the Federated Jewish Fund. She recalls various projects during her twenty years of involvement in the Seattle Chapter of Hadassah, including: publicity for the Youth Aliyah division in 1946, a benefit fashion show sponsored by I. Magnin, fund-raising raffles for the Youth Aliyah, work with the Junior Hadassah, starting the successful Business and Professional Group, founding the Hadassah Thriftshop on Broadway, and regional activities with communities in Washington and Oregon. Anches also discusses local leaders of Hadassah, including Nina Kessler, Edith Lurie, Helen Feinberg, Eleanor Arnstein, Ann Tobias, Lilly DeJaen and Elsa Levinson, who Anches names as a master teacher. Anches also served as president of the Women's Division of the Federated Jewish Fund and describes the difficulties in persuading women to contribute as a separate group. She reminisces about fund-raising in the pre-computer age and her successful strategies, including organizing a phonathon.
